battle between the new vs. the old

ok si the psp as become my life, i value it DEARLY but im starting to think about getting a new one because mines getting old. 

what should i do? get an origanal thick psp or dish out the extra $$ and get a slim? 
like whats the difference? and im clumsy and tend to drop stuff, just last night i broke my moms cell >.<
